OREANDA-NEWS. Former Georgian president and former governor of the Odessa region, Mikhail Saakashvili, complained about the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who advised Kiev to return Ukrainian citizenship to him.

On his Facebook page, the politician assured that in this way Putin allegedly wants him not to be allowed into Ukraine, as well as to Turkey, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. “Who advises the future president of Ukraine to return me citizenship? Putin? This is the Putin who in December 2017 at a press conference loudly demanded Poroshenko to expel me from Ukraine (which Poroshenko did a month later). I precisely know, what exactly you have demanded from Poroshenko not to invite me for inauguration in 2014 », - Saakashvili wrote.

The politician complained that the Russian leader "constantly talks about him" and even at the summit with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in 2016, he was discussing him. “We will deal with the Ukrainians ourselves!” Saakashvili summed up. Earlier, Vladimir Putin noted that the newly elected president of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, is not talking about the Russians, but taking up freedom in his own country, and for starters, you can start “with Georgians or with former Georgians who consider themselves Ukrainians” and return Saakashvili’s passport.

In 2013, Mikhail Saakashvili left Georgia, where several criminal cases were initiated against him, and became a citizen of Ukraine, taking the post of governor of the Odessa region. Later, due to conflicts with the Ukrainian president, Petro Poroshenko, the politician was deprived of his citizenship and expelled from the country. Since then, Saakashvili has threatened to return, both to Georgia and Ukraine, and to “restore order” everywhere. On June 28, it was reported that he was sentenced to six years in prison in Georgia.
