OREANDA-NEWS. Russian senator Alexei Pushkov commented the statement of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who said that Russia intervened in the elections in the USA several times.

During a speech at the Economic Club in Washington, the Secretary of State was asked does he doubt that Russia interfered in the US elections in 2016. He answered that there is no doubt, that he is sure Russia intervened all the elections of a previous decade including 2018.

Pushkov said that Pompeo lives in the “looking glass”, and explained that Russia could not support any of the previous US presidential candidates, because it would be unprofitable for Moscow.

“According to Pompeo, Russia has interfered in the US elections since 2008! He just did not explain which side it supported – Obama or McCain with Romney? It would be strange to support this pair of hawks, and Obama turned out to be wrong for us too. Through the looking glass, in a word. Pompeo in Wonderland,” – Puskov wrote in his Twitter page.

The federal prosecutor Robert Mueller has been investigating Russian intervention in the elections for almost 2 years. Moscow denied these facts. Mueller confirmed the interference. At the same time, he did not find evidence of a deal between the election winner Donald Trump and Russia. The existence of a deal was denied both in the Kremlin and in the White House.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking of the Moscow’s interference in elections in different countries, stated that there are no facts to confirm it.
