Russian Politician Called for Halving the Number of Deputies in the Country
OREANDA-NEWS. The leader of Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, Vladimir Zhirinovsky proposed to reduce twice the number of all deputies in the country, since it would save budget funds and ensure social distance in local parliaments. According to him, it would be better if parliamentary elections are held every two or three years.
“A campaign in the State Duma, then a break, and a campaign in other legislative assemblies [Of regions of Russia. – Ed.], so that people are less likely to gather in the polling stations,” Zhirinovsky wrote on his Twitter page.
Earlier, the politician made a similar proposal to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Zhirinovsky argued that in the meeting rooms the distance between deputies should be at least two meters. In his opinion, if it was implemented, “nothing would change in the country, it would be only better.”
At present, in Russia there are 232 thousand people infected with coronavirus. Over 43 thousand patients recovered. More than 2 thousand people died.
