Russian Parliamentarian Commented on Romania’s Intention to Recognize Moscow as a Hostile Power
OREANDA-NEWS. Member of the Federation Council of Russia from the Republic of Crimea, Sergey Tsekov, did not agree with Romania’s assessment of the Russian threat in the Black Sea and emphasized that Moscow intends only to defend itself.
On June 9, Romanian authorities published a draft national state defense strategy for 2020–2024, which declares that building up military capabilities of Russia in the Black Sea poses serious challenges to the national interests of Bucharest.
“Romania is developing new defense documents for the country, and in these documents Russia is called a hostile state. In fact, everything is exactly the opposite, if you look at the history of many years. It is Romania which has always been hostile to Russia,” Tsekov said. The politician also emphasized that the Russian military potential in the Black Sea region is focused at nothing but defense.
