OREANDA-NEWS. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and US Defense Department instructors are involved in preparing protests in Belarus. This was stated by Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia, Sergey Naryshkin.

“Fighters for renewed Belarus are trained in Poland, Georgia, Ukraine and the Baltic states with participation of instructors from the CIA and the Pentagon as well as US non-governmental organizations affiliated with the Department of State,” Naryshkin said. According to him, the United States is using the most unscrupulous methods to influence the situation in the republic. “The State Department has launched work to involve extremist elements in the protests,” he explained.

According to Naryshkin, Washington is interfering in the religious situation in Belarus, seeking to involve Catholic communities in anti-government actions. He noted that calls are being made to the clergy of the Roman Catholic Church to openly criticize the Belarusian authorities and use religious events to conduct opposition political propaganda among believers. Naryshkin added that the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia has information on the preparation of a resonant provocation in this sphere.
