Russia Intends to Inform UN Security Council about the Outcome of Negotiations with Turkey on Syria
OREANDA-NEWS. Russia requested a closed meeting of the UN Security Council to inform partners about the outcome of the talks between Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
TASS news agency reports that this was announced on March 6 by the official representative of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Fyodor Strzhizhovsky. “At the initiative of Russia on Friday afternoon, the Security Council will hold consultations on Syria,” he said. The diplomat specified that the meeting will be devoted to the results of the Russian-Turkish talks in Moscow held on March 5.
It is known that the parties agreed on measures to resolve the situation in Syria. On the night of March 6, a ceasefire entered into force in the governorate of Idlib. On March 15, the Russian-Turkish patrolling of the Syrian highway M-5 will begin.
