OREANDA-NEWS. The Russia’s Mission to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has sent a note to the German office of the OPCW demanding to provide materials on the case of opposition leader Aleksey Navalny within ten days.

The note was sent on September 23. Moscow demands from Berlin to transfer comprehensive information on the Navalny case, in particular, the results of analyzes, biomaterials and other clinical samples of a Russian citizen, which the federal government of Germany has at its disposal. The document says that the request was made in accordance with paragraph 2 of Article 9 of the Chemical Weapons Convention, according to which the German side must provide a response within ten days.

Depending on the response of Germany, the Russian side will decide on further steps based on the possibilities laid down in the Convention, the message emphasizes. The Russian Mission counts on compliance by all members of the OPCW, primarily Germany, France and Sweden, with their obligations to provide legal assistance in accordance with the Convention, the press release says.
