Putin Met with Former Kyrgyz President Atambayev
OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he had a meeting with former Kyrgyz president Almazbek Atambayev in the Kremlin, at which he discussed the situation in the region and the republic.
Putin also added that “he is always open for contacts with both current colleagues and those who have already left their highest official duties”.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan now needs political stability and its people should unite around the current leader Soornbay Jeenbekov. “I believe that Kyrgyzstan has already experienced several quite serious internal political upheavals, to be more precise, at least two. And this, in my opinion, needs to be stopped precisely in the interests of the people of Kyrgyzstan, ”the president stressed, assuring that Moscow is set to implement plans for cooperation with Bishkek.
Kyrgyz ex-president Almazbek Atambayev, who was deprived of immunity by parliament, flew to Moscow on a special board from a Russian airbase in Kant on Wednesday. About plans to go to Moscow "for a couple of days," the former leader of Kyrgyzstan said on Monday.
