Putin Does Not Plan Negotiations with the Heads of Azerbaijan and Turkey
OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin does not have clear plans for negotiations with the heads of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This was reported by the press secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov. According to him, there is no shortage of contacts now.
Since the beginning of the escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, Putin has already spoken with Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, several times, but he did not talk with with the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
“Well, it depends on the President’s working schedules… you know that this does not mean at all that the Russian side is experiencing some kind of deficit in working contacts. On the contrary, you know that the foreign minister [Sergei] Lavrov is in constant contact with his counterparts from Azerbaijan and Turkey. Therefore, the Russian–Turkish, Russian–Azerbaijani dialogue – well, in fact, like the Russian–Armenian – on the Karabakh conflict is carried out at a high level and on an ongoing basis, Peskov explained. According to him, if negotiations are necessary, Putin “will discuss this topic with his counterparts.”
