OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping discussed the spread of coronavirus infection during a telephone conversation on March 19. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Kremlin press service.

It is known that Putin approved the success of the leadership and people of China in countering the outbreak of a new disease. “The situation around the coronavirus pandemic was thoroughly discussed, regarding that Russia and China had established close cooperation in the fight against infection from the very beginning. The Russian side highly appreciated the results achieved by the PRC leadership and all Chinese people in countering the spread of the disease. Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping declared for further mutual assistance and deepening cooperation in the field of medicine and drug development,” a statement of the press service says.

The two politicians also exchanged views on a number of other aspects of the development of friendly Russian-Chinese relations.
