Presidents of Russia, Turkey and Iran Made a Joint Statement on Syria
OREANDA-NEWS. The principles of independence and integrity of Syria are subject to universal observance, and no one should undermine them. This is said in a joint statement by the presidents of Russia, Turkey and Iran, made after the trilateral summit held on July 1.
“We noted a firm commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic… as well as the goals and principles of the UN Charter. We emphasized that these principles are subject to universal observance and that no actions, no matter who they take, should undermine them,” the document reads.
In addition, the heads of state opposed attempts to create “new realities” in Syria under the pretext of combating terrorism and expressed their determination to resist separatist plans aimed at undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the republic.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that joint efforts had made a lot and the prerequisites for a politico-diplomatic settlement of the situation in Syria had already been created.
President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan assured that Ankara will do everything possible to ensure stability and welfare in Syria.
