President of Ukraine Told Under What Condition He Would Resign
OREANDA-NEWS. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with The Times of Israel named a condition under which he would resign.
The journalist David Horovitz asked what Zelensky would do if he was accused of corruption, having mentioned the struggle of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with similar charges.
“If I was to be charged with some genuine corruption – not some kind of political thing – something that really happened, then according to the constitution I would have to step down,” Zelensky replied.
The President also spoke about the fight with corruption in Ukraine, noting that it is “complicated”. “First, we’re reforming the state prosecution. Several thousand prosecutors were fired. Several hundred prosecutors are being required to re-qualify… Second, we are now legislating to reform the security services,” the head of state said.
