OREANDA-NEWS. Polish President Andrzej Duda claimed that the presence of US troops in the country saved the republic from Russian influence.

“The most important thing is that we already have thousands of American soldiers, the Americans are building their missile defense base in Redzikowo,” the politician said. According to him, because of this fact Poland “is no longer a Russian zone of influence.”

Duda told that Warsaw is now becoming “independent of Russia.” “Soon this independence will become complete, when we build the Baltic Pipe and have the freedom to choose from whom to buy gas, from Russia or other suppliers. Then we will be completely independent,” the President explained. The head of state added that another condition of the independence of the eastern neighbour is the canal through the Baltic spit which will allow “not to ask the Russians if it is possible to go from the Baltic Sea to the waters of the bay.”
