President of Azerbaijan Ruled out the Possibility of Giving Nagorno-Karabakh a Special Status
OREANDA-NEWS. The possibility of giving Nagorno-Karabakh a special status is unacceptable for Baku, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
“There can be no question of any status. There is single Azerbaijan – multinational and multi-confessional. All citizens of Azerbaijan, representing different nations and religions, live in peace and neighbourliness. The Armenian people will also live in these conditions,” the politician said during visiting the Fizuli District.
In his opinion, the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh has entered the phase of political settlement. “And at this stage, the Azerbaijani side achieves its goals. The liberation of the city of Shusha and over 70 settlements the next day marked the end of the military resolution stage. As I said earlier, in this conflict, as the situation has shown, there is a military-political way of settlement, and Azerbaijan has demonstrated this on the battlefield,” Aliyev explained.
