OREANDA-NEWS. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview with the TV channel Fox News that Washington is seriously discussing the possibility of blocking the Chinese video-sharing social networking service TikTok in the country.

Answering the host’s question, will the USA follow the example of the authorities of India and Australia, which have already announced the need to close the Chinese application, Pompeo noted that such a decision is possible. He did not go into details, but advised American citizens to be cautious when using TikTok so that personal information does not appear “in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.”

The Secretary of State recalled that the United States had previously declared a threat to national security connected to the work of Chinese companies ZTE and Huawei, suspecting them of transferring personal data of US citizens to the Beijing authorities.
