OREANDA-NEWS. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made a speech on countering China published on Twitter. The politician believes that it is necessary to create a new alliance against Beijing, and he admits that Russia could be attracted to confrontation.

Pompeo noted that China is making the same mistakes as the USSR: non-observance of property rights and the rule of law are among them. Being asked if the United States could win support from Russia, he replied that such an opportunity exists. “That opportunity is born of the natural relationship between Russia and China. And we can do something as well, there are places where we need to work with Russia,” the US Secretary of State explained.

Pompeo offered to oppose Beijing with the help of a “new alliance of democracies.” According to the American diplomat, “if the free world doesn’t change Communist China, Communist China will change us.”
