Poland Proposed to Create a Fund for Belarus of at Least 1 Billion Euros
OREANDA-NEWS. The “stabilization fund” for assistance to Belarus should amount to at least 1 billion euros at the current stage, Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki said at a joint press conference with his Lithuanian counterpart Saulius Skvernelis, which took place on September 17.
Answering the question about the “Marshall Plan” (American initiative passed in 1948 for foreign aid to Western Europe) for Belarus, which Poland intends to present at the next summit of the European Union, Morawiecki noted that the International Monetary Fund and European funds may participate in the financing. “Of course, the fund should be significant, which in the current situation will allow stabilizing investors’ expectations,” the Prime Minister explained.
However, Morawiecki added that Warsaw considers it necessary that the Russian Federation remains to be a key economic partner of the Republic of Belarus.
