Pashinyan Urged the Military to Resolve the Problem with Protesters in Yerevan
OREANDA-NEWS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan advised the military to return from Nagorno-Karabakh to Yerevan and resolve the problem with protesters. “I watched dozens of videos of servicemen from the front line. I was amazed by the thoughtfulness of these guys. You guys are right. I am waiting for you in Yerevan to finally resolve the problems with the whining under the walls. I am proud of you,” Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page.
Armenian ombudsman Arman Tatoyan condemned Pashinyan’s words. “This is a very dangerous statement, which calls for civil war in fact. This statement is doubly dangerous against the background of statements by armed men in military uniform, containing calls for violence and killings. I urge everyone to show restraint. Law enforcement agencies are obliged to act in accordance with the law. It is necessary to prevent all attempts at lynching,” Tatoyan wrote on Facebook.
After Pashinyan’s statement, Varag Siseryan, head of the office of the Vice Prime Minister of Armenia, announced his intention to resign.
Gayane Abrahamyan, a deputy of the ruling My Step Alliance, also reported of her intention to give up parliamentary powers.
