The health condition of the Russain opposition politician Aleksey Navalny has improved, he was taken out of medically induced coma, and he began to react to speech, the Berlin clinic Charite reports. The patient was disconnected from the mechanical ventilation. At the same time, physicians noted that it is too early to assess the long-term consequences of Navalny’s poisoning.

Navalny has been in a coma since August 20. He became ill during the flight from Tomsk to Moscow, the airplane urgently landed in Omsk, and the politician was taken to a local hospital, where he fell into coma. Two days later, he was transported to Berlin, where he was admitted to the Charite clinic.

According to the conclusion of the Omsk doctors, the reason for Navalny’s hospitalization could be a metabolic disorder, and no poisons or traces of them were found in his body. In Berlin, it was established that Navalny had been poisoned with a substance from the Novichok group. The German government considers the incident to be an attack. The European Council allowed the imposition of sanctions against Moscow in connection with the poisoning.
