Moscow Sent a Note of Protest to Kiev over an Incident near Russian Embassy
OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note of protest to the Ukrainian diplomatic mission because of the “escapade of the nationalists” near the Russian Embassy in Kiev.
This is stated in the commentary by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, published on the agency’s website. It is clarified that the action of the radicals took place on March 14. The report indicates that the Kiev authorities allow provocations near the Russian Embassy, violating obligations under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961. “The Ukrainian side was required to take appropriate measures to exclude actions that violate normal work of our representative office,” Zakharova wrote. She demanded that all persons involved in the “illegal action” are brought to account.
On March 14 (Volunteer Day in Kiev), activists lit firecrackers near the building of the Russian Embassy and shot at it from a flare pistol. In addition, the protesters tore the Russian flag and hung it on the fence. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, members of the Ukrainian units Azov and Right Sector (organizations banned in Russia) took part in the action.
