OREANDA-NEWS. German Chancellor Angela Merkel commented on the possibility of lifting sanctions during the pandemic, noting that this can be made only with the resolution of the political problems that lie behind them.

“Of course, we all want good economic development, of course, the sanctions are aimed at expressing dissatisfaction. As for the sanctions associated with Ukraine, we are working to solve the political problems that are behind them,” Merkel said. “I can only call on everyone in this exceptional situation, which again showed us that we have serious international problems, to resolve the conflicts that have been accompanying us for many years, then there will be no sanctions,” the politician added.
