OREANDA-NEWS. German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared that the results of the election of the Prime Minister of the federal state of Thuringia should be canceled.

The Landtag of Thuringia held the election of the head of government. The elected prime minister should create the government of the federal state. Thomas Kemmerich representing the liberal Free Democratic Party won the election.

Merkel’s indignation is caused by the fact that Kemmerich won after both the Christian Democratic Union and the right-wing party Alternative for Germany voted for him. The latter supported Kemmerich at the last moment. Federal Chancellor emphasized that the agreement of the two oppositely oriented parties is unprecedented and “unforgivable.”
