OREANDA-NEWS. The issue of creating trade union organizations at all private enterprises of Belarus should be resolved by the end of the current year. This was stated on November 10 by President Alexander Lukashenko.

At a meeting with the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, Mikhail Orda, the head of state stressed that both private and state companies should have trade union organizations, and the need for their functioning is a position of the government. Whether to join an organization or not is a matter for each individual employee, he added. “We agreed that by the end of this year trade union organizations will be created at all private enterprises. This issue must be resolved by the end of the year,” Lukashenko resumed.

Presidential election in Belarus was held on August 9. According to the Central Election Commission, Lukashenko won. Those who disagreed with this took to the streets, and citizens’ discontent turned into mass protests, which are still ongoing. Since October 26, the opposition of the country declared an indefinite strike.
