OREANDA-NEWS. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko spoke about the existence of information according to which there were attemps to transfer weapons to the refugees on the border with Poland. In his opinion, the main thing is to protect the Belarusian people and prevent military clashes in this regard. This is reported by BelTA.

«I know that there have already been attempts to deliver weapons to a spontaneous migrant camp. As well as provocations that can lead to a violent conflict. This cannot be allowed in any case», Lukashenko said.

He added that the UAE is ready to join the settlement of the refugee situation on the border with the European Union. The President of Belarus accused the EU that instead of searching together with Minsk for a solution to the migration crisis, it is curtailing cross-border cooperation projects.

Earlier, Lukashenko said that Minsk does not want a conflict on the border with Poland. The authorities are ready to send refugees to their homeland, but they themselves do not want to return there.

The migration crisis on the border of Belarus and the EU countries, which began in May, escalated on November 8. Then several thousand migrants approached the Polish-Belarusian border. They began to storm the cordon, but these attempts were stopped by Polish security forces. Poland has pulled military and special equipment to the border.
