Lukashenko’s Rival Urged Belarusians Not to Take Part in Protests and Observe the Law
OREANDA-NEWS. A video message of the candidate for the presidency of Belarus, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who is considered to be the main rival of the current head of state Alexander Lukashenko, has appeared on the Internet. She urged the Belarusians “not to go out into the squares” and not to confront the militia.
Earlier it was reported that Tsikhanouskaya left Belarus. The day before, the politician said that she was not going to leave the country. However, on August 11 the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry informed that she is in Lithuania.
“Dear citizens of the Republic of Belarus! I, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, thank you for participating in the presidential election. The people of Belarus have made its choice. With gratitude and warmth, I appeal to all citizens who have supported me all this time. Belarusians! I call on you to be prudent and respect the law. I don’t want blood and violence. I ask you not to confront the militia, not to go out into the squares, so as not to endanger your lives. Take care of yourself and people you love,” Tsikhanouskaya said in a new video message.
