Lukashenko Explained the Closure of the Borders of Belarus
OREANDA-NEWS. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the closure of the borders is explained by nothing but epidemiological situation. Since October 29, Minsk has restricted entry to the republic through ground checkpoints. This affected “certain categories of individuals” from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine.
“Alexander Lukashenko emphasizes that the adopted… decision… is temporary, and it does not contain political reasons,” Sputnik Belarus reported, providing the details of the meeting on measures to combat the spread of coronavirus infection in the country.
The head of state noted that the main wealth of the country is the health and lives of people, and the epidemiological situation in the world is developing according to one of the most negative scenarios. “I do not mean record numbers of morbidity in most European countries and not even a complete lockdown in some countries. Obviously, the damage to the economies will be serious, but now we should not think about it,” the politician said.
