OREANDA-NEWS. Paris-based newspaper Le Monde published information about a telephone conversation between Russian and French presidents, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron, which took place on September 14 and mainly concerned the events around alleged poisoning of Russian oppositionist Aleksey Navalny.

The publication called the telephone talk “a conversation of the deaf.” According to Le Monde’s sources, Macron said that since it would be impossible for poisonous agent Novichok to be used by a private organization, an official Russian explanation is needed. In response, Putin called Navalny an Internet brawler. The Russian leader, according to the newspaper, accused Navalny and his supporters of blackmailing some politicians and officials.

The absence of an official investigation was explained by the fact that the results of the French and German tests were not transferred to Russia. In addition, Putin suggested investigating other versions, leading, in particular, to Latvia, where the inventor of Novichk lives.

According to the newspaper, the Russian president also suggested that Navalny himself had swallowed the poison, without explaining why it had happened.

Macron rejected the version of both the Latvian trace and the fact that Navalny could have taken the poison himself.
