Le Monde Reported of Nine Persons Subjected to EU Sanctions over Navalny Case
OREANDA-NEWS. The sanctions list, which France and Germany will offer their partners in the European Union in connection with the poisoning of Aleksey Navalny, will include nine names of Russian officials. This was reported by the French newspaper Le Monde without citing sources.
According to the publication, the blacklist will include representatives of the presidential administration, special services, as well as the State Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology, in which the poisonous substance have been invented. Restrictive measures will include an asset freeze and a ban on entry to European countries, the newspaper clarifies.
The article says that Germany managed to avoid linking the situation with Navalny with the construction of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2.
On October 7, France and Germany issued a joint statement saying that, despite requests, Russia had not provided any convincing explanation on the incident with Navalny. Based on this, Berlin and Paris considered that there was no other plausible explanation other than Russia’s involvement in the poisoning.
