Kremlin Spokesman Told about the Interaction between Russia and Turkey on Nagorno-Karabakh
OREANDA-NEWS. Russia and Turkey will interact on Nagorno-Karabakh within the monitoring center, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President, said.
“The area of interaction will be on the territory of Azerbaijan, it will not be Nagobno-Karabakh, we are talking about a monitoring center,” the politician told journalists.
According to a Kremlin spokesman, Moscow and Ankara have never discussed the possibility of introducing joint peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, earlier Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev informed that peacekeepers from Russia and Turkey would be deployed in the conflict zone.
“No, there was no talk of joint peacekeeping forces, this topic was never discussed,” Peskov said in response to a request to comment on Aliyev’s words.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that on November 9, he, together with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, signed a statement on a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, which will begin to operate from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020. According to the document, the conflicting parties remain in their positions, they should exchange captives and bodies of the dead, and Russian peacekeepers are to be brought into the conflict zone.
