Kremlin Spokesman Commented on Turkey’s Attitude to Crimea
OREANDA-NEWS. Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President, called Turkey’s position on Crimea one of the serious disagreements between Moscow and Ankara.
The politician noted that Russian–Turkish relations are important for both countries and for security and stability. The Russian Federation patiently communicates its opinion to its Turkish partners, Peskov added. “These relations are mutually beneficial, they are based on the principles of non-interference in each other’s internal affairs and respect for each other’s interests. At the same time, of course, there are disagreements in our relations,” the Kremlin spokesman explained. He also stressed that the topic of Crimea cannot be discussed in any way.
In March 2014, a referendum was held in Crimea, after which the peninsula became a territorial part of Russia.
