Kremlin Representative Commented on the Introduction of anti-Russian Sanctions by EU
OREANDA-NEWS. The new sanctions, which the European Union imposed against Russia because of the poisoning of opposition leader Aleksey Navalny, was considered by the Kremlin as a “deliberate unfriendly step.” This was stated by the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
On October 15, the EU imposed sanctions against six Russian officials and the State Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology. The restrictions fell on representatives of the Federal Security Service, presidential administration and Defense Ministry.
“The EU Council has damaged our relations with this step. Moscow will analyze it and will act on the basis of its interests,” Peskov said, commenting on this. Being asked why the sanctions were imposed against these individuals, the spokesman said that the Kremlin administration does not see any logic in this. “The sad side of this issue is that no logic can be seen in such a decision. These are the aggravating circumstances of the decision,” he noted.
