Kim Jong-un Gave First Foreign Interview in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. The head of North Korea Kim Jong-un for the first time gave a full-fledged interview to a foreign journalist, co-host of the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” on the TV channel “Russia 1” Pavel Zarubin.
As the North Korean leader noted, the beginning of the trip to Russia has already left a warm impression on him. “I hope that this visit will be successful and useful and that during the negotiations with the esteemed President Putin I will be able to specifically discuss issues to resolve the situation on the Korean Peninsula,” he said. He also expressed the hope that the parties will discuss the development of bilateral relations.
The North Korean leader’s trip to Russia began early in the morning of April 24. First, he arrived at the border station Hasan in Primorsky Territory. Kim Jong-un was met by girls in Russian national costumes who presented him a traditional Russian symbol of hospitality, round loaf. After that, the head of Democratic People's Republic of Korea visited the House of Russian-Korean Friendship, known as the “The House of Kim Il-sung”.
Then his armored train stopped at the new terminal of Vladivostok station. A red carpet was laid for him, posters with greeting words were hung, a military band of the guard of honor was lined up at the station square.
On April 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un will negotiate in Vladivostok. This will be the first visit of the North Korean leader to Russia. The main goal of meeting is resolving problems on the Korean Peninsula.
