Kiev Refuses to Appoint an Ambassador to Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. Kiev does not plan to appoint an ambassador in Moscow. This was announced on February 11 by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. “In consideration of the continuation of Russian aggression against Ukraine and the Russian occupation of Ukrainian territories, there is no reason to raise the status of diplomatic relations by appointing the ambassador of Ukraine,” Interfax-Ukraine news agency quotes its statement.
On February 10, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Moscow would not be opposed to the return of the Ukrainian ambassador, as well as the appointment of the Russian ambassador in Kiev. At the same time, Lavrov declared against the creation of barriers between the two countries, including canceling flights and reducing railway traffic.
