Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry Protests to China over an Article on Territory Ownership
OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has protested to Beijing over an article on a Chinese website author of which questions Kazakhstan’s ownership of its territory. The publication, in particular, claims that modern Kazakhstan occupies a territory historically owned by China.
A meeting with the Chinese Ambassador was held at the Ministry, during which the Kazakh side protested against an article published on the Chinese website www.sohu.com, titled “Why Kazakhstan seeks to return to China,” the message of the press service reads.
According to the Kazakh diplomats, the publication of such content does not correspond to the spirit of the strategic partnership reflected in the joint statement of Kazakhstan and China, signed by the heads of state in 2019. “The parties agreed to closely cooperate in the field of disseminating information and the media,” the agency pointed out.
