OREANDA-NEWS. American rap artist Kanye West, who had previously announced a decision to run for US president in 2020, decided to participate in election campaign as an independent candidate.

He spoke about this on July 8 in an interview with Forbes magazine. “I would run as a Republican if  Trump [The current US President. – Ed.] wasn’t there. I will run as an independent if Trump is there,” West said. He also noted that “Trump is the closest president we’ve had in years to allowing God to still be part of the conversation.”

The rapper announced that he plans to run in the US presidential race on July 5. He did not specify in which year he would try to become an American leader.

After this message appeared on Twitter, the founder of companies Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, declared that he fully supports Kanye West in this endeavour.
