OREANDA-NEWS. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson compared the leader of the opposition Labor Party, Jeremy Corbin, to the head of the USSR Joseph Stalin (from 1924 to 1953). The leader of the ruling Conservative Party wrote about this on Wednesday in a column in a British newspaper.

"The tragedy of the modern Labor Party under Jeremy Corbin is that they internally hate the desire for profit - and they will so uncontrollably raise taxes - that they will destroy the very foundation of the country's prosperity", Johnson said. "They pretend that their hatred is directed only "on certain billionaires, and they point fingers at people with pleasure and vengeance, unprecedented since when Stalin pursued his fists".

Johnson's article was published on the day of the official start of the general election campaign. At midnight local time (03:00 Moscow time on Wednesday), parliament was dissolved, and Johnson on November 6 at an audience with the head of state, Queen Elizabeth II, should officially announce the start of the campaign. Following its results, the new composition of the House of Commons of Parliament will be elected in the December 12 elections. With the help of early elections, Johnson intends to try to get out of the deadlock the process of negotiating a deal on Brexit.
