In Russia, the Excise Tax on Wine will Grow
OREANDA-NEWS. The increase in excise taxes on wine by more than 70%, proposed by the government of the Russian Federation, evens out the price of wine and wine drinks, while the cost of natural products will rise slightly - within the limits of inflation. This measure will help support winemakers who produce products from grapes grown in Russia.
The size of the rates is determined “based on the need to adjust the excise rates for different alcohol with a comparable alcohol content equal to the degree of harmfulness of the products,” the representative of the Ministry of Finance explains, without specifying the details of the calculations.
The government proposed to increase the excise rate on wine from 2020: for quiet wines - from 18 to 31 rubles. for 1 l, for sparkling - from 36 to 40 rubles. for 1 l, follows from the draft amendments to the Tax Code.
