In Minsk, Women Held an Action against Violence during Protests
OREANDA-NEWS. An action in support of those who suffered from violence during the protests was held in Minsk.
According to the portal Tut.by, about 250 women in white clothes with roses were silently lined up in a chain. One of them explained that the action is held in favour of a peaceful protest. Before that, they tried to help the participants in the clashes, leaving food and medicine in the house doorways.
Tut.by reporters noted two minibuses without registration numbers that moved near the demonstrators. Later, the militia arrived and asked to disperse, warning about “the responsibility established by law.”
Since August 9, protests and clashes have been going on in Minsk and other cities of Belarus. The reason was the presidential election in the republic, won by Alexander Lukashenko. The demonstrators consider the opposition candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to be a winner, while according to the official data, she gained just about 10 % of votes.
