In Michigan, anti-Quarantine Protesters Entered the State Capitol
OREANDA-NEWS. CNN reports that on April 30, in the capital of the US state of Michigan, Lansing, a protest action was held. Its participants opposed the extension of restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to local police, 400 to 700 people took part in the rally. Demonstrators demanded to let them into the Capitol. Law enforcement officers let them in, but because of the need to maintain distance between people, no more than 275 protesters could be in the building at a time.
At the Capitol, manifestants sang a national anthem and chanted: “Let us work.” Some of them were masked and armed. The police specified that, according to local legislation, it is allowed to carry weapon freely, it can be carried even in the Capitol. Thus, law enforcement officials considered the protest to be peaceful.
