In Kiev, Ukrainian Nationalists Hold Protest Action
OREANDA-NEWS. In the center of Kiev, an action of nationalists takes place in honor of the 77th anniversary of the creation of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (which is banned in Russia).
According to Interfax-Ukraine agency which refers to the organizers of the event, the all-Ukrainian association “Freedom”, more than 10 thousand people participate in it. The leader of “Freedom” Oleg Tyagnibok, the representatives of the party “Right Sector” (also banned in Russia), as well as the members of the Association of Farmers of Ukraine are present there.
UNN agency reports that the event began at 13:00 local time near the monument to Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. After that, the column of demonstrators moved to Bankova Street, where the president’s office is located.
Dialog.UA site notes that the main demand of the protesters is to prevent the loss of the territorial integrity of the country after adopting the “Steinmeier formula”, which determines the procedure for holding elections in Donbass republics and assigning a special status to these territories. Demonstrators also oppose the sale of agricultural land to local capitalists and foreign investors.
After the march, the protesters joined the rally named “No surrender.”
Before the protest actions planned for today, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky asked the citizens participating in the rallies not to succumb to provocations and “not to create a picture for Russian television.” The politician also noted that he “understands the fear” of compatriots connected with the settlement of the conflict in Donbass.
