OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus, Archbishop of Minsk and Mogilev, Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz was not allowed into the country without explanation, when he returned from a foreign trip.

This was reported by the Catholic Church in Belarus. Bishop Yury Kasabutsky explained that on August 31, Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz was returning from a working tour abroad. “At the border crossing… border guards of the Republic of Belarus refused entry into the country to the head of the Belarusian Catholic episcopate without giving any reason,” the Church representatives reported.

Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz is a citizen of the Republic of Belarus. Earlier, he called on the country’s authorities to start a dialogue with society amid ongoing political protests.

Archbishop of Minsk and Mogilev founded the Grodno Higher Theological Seminary; he contributed to the return and reopening of about 100 previously closed churches in Belarus.
