OREANDA-NEWS. German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer said that she will analyze possible mistakes in Afghanistan and draw conclusions for herself, but she will do this after the evacuation of Bundeswehr soldiers from the country where the Taliban terrorist movement has rapidly seized power. This statement was made by the head of the German defense Ministry on Monday, August 23, on the air of the Bild TV channel.

«When this mission is completed, I will think very carefully about what responsibility I had, where I met it, and where, perhaps, I did not, and also what conclusions I personally should draw from this», she said.

At the same time, Kramp-Karrenbauer made it clear that at this stage she wants to focus on the mission of withdrawing German soldiers. «I am the bearer of command powers, and they should be a priority at the moment when such a dangerous military mission is being conducted, for which I sent people to participate», she said.

The minister clarified that at the anti-crisis meeting at the Federal Chancellor's office, chaired by Prime Minister Angela Merkel, personnel aspects were not discussed. «It was specifically about the following question: at what stage is the evacuation, what political efforts are being made», she added. According to her, it was about extending the evacuation mission.
