Georgia Intends to Recall Ambassador from Kiev if Saakashvili Is Appointed as Ukrainian Vice Premier
OREANDA-NEWS. Tbilisi will recall the ambassador in Kiev if the former president of Georgia and ex-governor of the Odessa Region, Mikheil Saakashvili becomes vice premier of Ukraine. This was stated by the Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia.
Earlier, Saakashvili reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky invited him to become deputy prime minister for reforming and instructed him to engage in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund and other financial organizations. The Verkhovna Rada should vote for the appointment, but there is no strong support for his candidacy among the deputies.
According to Gakharia, “the appointment of a person, who has already been sentenced for serious crimes and wanted, to the post of deputy prime minister by our strategic partner is categorically unacceptable.” At the same time, the Georgian politician noted that the long-term relations of the two countries will not be influenced by this.
