OREANDA-NEWS. The statement of Field Marshal of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar about the transfer of power to him will not lead to a resolution of the conflict and cannot be accepted. This was stated on April 28 by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Peter Stano at a press conference in Brussels.

On April 27, the TV channel Sky News Arabia issued a statement by Haftar, saying that the LNA “takes over the leadership of the country and announces the termination of the Skhirat Agreement.” According to the Field Marshal, the LNA will work to create conditions for the formation of permanent civil institutions of the state in accordance with the will of the Libyan people.
