Erdogan Signed a Bill on Sending Troops to Libya
OREANDA-NEWS. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a bill that establishes the possibility of sending a military contingent to Libya. The document was published in the Turkish government newsletter Resmi Gazete, this fact means that the law enters into force.
Earlier, the bill was approved by the Grand National Assembly. It was introduced in the last days of 2019 by the Justice and Development Party (AKP) led by Erdogan.
According to comments in the Turkish media, at the first stage, Ankara may send military instructors to train fighters of the Government of National Accord of Libya and supply arms developed by Turkish specialists.
Earlier, Erdogan has repeatedly declared his readiness to send the military to Libya if the Government of National Accord asks him for assistance.
