Draft Document on Sending Military to Azerbaijan Was Submitted to Turkish Parliament
OREANDA-NEWS. A draft decree on sending military personnel to Azerbaijan has been submitted to the Turkish parliament, Anadolu agency reported.
The text of the document says that the sending of servicemen to the country is provided for by Azerbaijan’s request and an agreement with Russia on the creation of a joint center for monitoring the maintenance of peace in the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh.
“Military personnel and, if necessary, civilian specialists will operate in the center. The work of the center will be aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the South Caucasus in the light of steps to ensure the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, which is reflected in the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe,” the document reads. It also states that the sending of military to Azerbaijan corresponds to the national interests of Turkey.
The location of the peacekeeping center will be determined by Azerbaijan, the number of military personnel, the scope of their mission and the duration of their stay will be determined by the administration of the President of Turkey.
