OREANDA-NEWS. Moldovan President Igor Dodon spoke out for continuing the program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which expires in March 2020. He made such a statement on Tuesday at a meeting with the head of the IMF mission, Ruben Atoyan, at which the change of government in the republic was discussed.

“He talked about new social initiatives of the government aimed at improving the lives of our citizens, as well as about the intention to implement a number of large infrastructure projects in Moldova. He noted that we count on the IMF's support in fulfilling these tasks”, Dodon wrote on his Facebook page after meeting.

“I assured the interlocutor that the new government will strictly comply with all commitments made to external partners and will make every effort to successfully implement the current program of cooperation with the IMF, which expires in March 2020. At the same time, he noted that the basis of all undertaken by the new the cabinet of action will lay on the national interests of the Republic of Moldova, the patronage of our economic agents, the social protection of vulnerable segments of the population", the president said.
