Chinese Foreign Ministry Responded to Trump’s Accusations Voiced at UN General Assembly Session
OREANDA-NEWS. China protested against statements by US President Donald Trump at the 75th United Nations General Assembly. The American leader accused Beijing and the World Health Organization of misinformation on the situation with the coronavirus and called on the UN to bring China to justice.
“Unfortunately, contrary to the facts, the American side used the UN rostrum to fabricate rumours and baseless attacks, to denigrate China for unseemly political goals. The Chinese side expresses its strong protest,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China claimed, commenting on Trump’s words.
Relations between Washington and Beijing remain to be tense: trade confrontation continues, and disagreements over the status of Hong Kong and the causes of the coronavirus pandemic persist.
In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 29 million cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the world. Almost 31.5 million patients recovered. More than 960 thousand people died.
