OREANDA-NEWS. The Chinese Embassy in the United States called the statements of Americans about threats from Beijing in the South China Sea “completely unjustified.”

Earlier, Washington officially declared illegal Chine’s claims for offshore resources in most parts of the South China Sea. In addition, the USA accused China of trying to receive control of these resources through threats.

“The State Department of the United States on July 13, 2020 issued a statement that ignores the efforts of China and the ASEAN countries for peace and stability in the South China Sea, intentionally distorts facts and international law, including the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, aggravates the situation in the region and tries to create discord between China and other riparian countries. These allegations are completely unjustified. The Chinese side is strongly opposed,” the Embassy’s statement says. The document notes that the United States, not being directly involved in disputes, constantly “intervened in this matter.”
