British Parliament Approved the Bill on Brexit
OREANDA-NEWS. The Parliament of Great Britain approved the bill on Brexit, prepared by the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
According to the channel Sky News, the law was adopted by both houses of the Parliament. The House of Lords approved it soon after the House of Commons refused to introduce the proposed amendments. Now, in order for the law to enter into force, the document must be signed by Queen Elizabeth II.
Initially, Britain’s exit from the European Union was supposed to take place in March 2019, but due to disagreements between the government and parliament on the conditions for exit, the deadline was postponed to the end of October. Johnson insisted that withdrawal from the EU should happen no later than October 31. As a result, the EU delayed Brexit until January 31, 2020.
